Is for those starting out in rally or making the transition from AKC
to APDT rally. The workshop will cover the Level 1 signs of APDT rally.
Level 1 is performed on leash. There is unlimited praise, some limit to
communication, and dogs can get treats on the course. There will be an
opportunity to run through a Level 1 course with instruction.
Instructor: Barb Burri
Barb is the first APDT Rally udge and APDT rally representative in
NH. Barb has titled all 3 of her Labs to the championship level in APDT
rally, as well as titling her dogs in AKC, UKC, CPE venues for
obedience, rally and agility. Barb has been involved in adult education
for over 30 years, as an Instructor of Trainers for the Girl Scouts of
the USA and more recently as faculty at the Great Bay Community College.
A certified vet tech and a software engineer, Barb brings her years of
dog experience as well as problem solving ability to her teaching
experiences. Barb's classes are based on psitive training techniques and
creative approaches to attaining the results students want for their
dogs. Barb's philosophy is: as handlers, we are here to make our dogs
look good and have fun with our canine team members-whether its
competition rally, obedience, or real life manners.
Is for those looking at Level 2 and 3 of APDT rally or making the transition from AKC. Levels 2 and 3 are performed off leash and include more than the AKC rally exercises. The exercises include leaving your dog at a run and calling front, signals, drop on recall, directed jumping, recall over a jump, moving stands and more. Many of the APDT level 2 and 3 signs are based on the exercises that help train for Open and Utility obedience. There are many differences from AKC rally at these levels. A review of signs will take place and there will be an opportunity to run through a Level 2 and a Level 3 APDT Rally course

If you are thinking of competing in early 2010, be sure to register your dog with APDT http://www.apdt.com/rall/register/default.aspx It can take 2-4 weeks to register, and there are trials coming up Jan 16/17th in Nashua NH, and Jan 31st in Keene/Swansea.
